Getting There & Away
AIR
Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) lies 8km east of the city and receives an impressive
level of traffic. A number of airlines service Mallorca ( Click here ) .
BOAT
Palma is the island's main port. There are numerous boat services to/from Mallorca from
mainland Spain and the other islands of the Balearics.
BUS
All island buses to/from Palma depart from (or near) the Estació Intermodal de Palma
MAP GOOGLE MAP ( 971 17 77 77; www.tib.org ; Plaça d'Espanya) . Services head in all
directions, including Valldemossa (€2, 30 minutes, four to nine daily), Sóller (€3.50, 30
minutes, up to five daily), Pollença (€5, 45 minutes, up to 12 daily) and Alcúdia (€5, 45
minutes, up to 16 daily). Other coastal and inland centres are served by less-frequent bus
lines. A handful of areas are more easily reached by train.
TRAIN
Two train lines run from Plaça d'Espanya. The Palma-Sóller railway is a popular panor-
amic run. From the main Estació Intermodal de Palma, the other line is more prosaic,
running northeast to Inca (€3) and then splitting into a branch to Sa Pobla (€4, 58
minutes) and another to Manacor (€4, 66 minutes). Services start at 5.45am and finish at
10.10pm on weekdays. Departure times on weekends (when both lines are all-stops
trains) vary but the frequency remains about the same.
