Base and projection views
Following are the main commands for creating and editing associative views.
The VIEWBASE command
The VIEWBASE command (no alias, Create View panel on the ribbon) creates a
base associative view in a layout, from solids and surfaces. When dealing with as-
sociative views, this must be the first command to execute. After a base view is spe-
cified, the command allows you to create projected views. With Version 2013, the
command can be used in model space, with the previous version only in layouts.
The command starts by prompting whether we want the existing model ( Model
space ) or a model from an Autodesk Inventor file ( File ):
Command: VIEWBASE
Specify model source [Model space/File] <Model
space>: Enter
Next, we can select the objects that will be processed by the associative views, or
press the Enter key to select the entire model:
Select objects or [Entire model] <Entire
model>: Enter
If using the command in model space, the command prompts for the name of a new
or existing layout:
