Enterprise Architecture, by business object domains, data
categories and business objects, is not easy to spot.
8.5.3.3. MDM Alliance Group (MAG)
Unlike earlier initiatives, the ready-to-use models made
available by the MDM Alliance Group, have been taken up
by the community. This is not work based on the isolated
creation of an individual. Several actors intervened to
establish and bring these data models to life 12 .
This initiative, launched in 2008, still has some way to go
before achieving a sufficient maturity level, but the main
principles are defined around key concepts such as the
modeling of “party”, “asset”, “real estate”, “address”,
“contact”, “event”, “classification”, “concepts related to time
management”, “human resources”, etc.
The models delivered by the MDM Alliance Group
conform to the requirements of semantic modeling. They use
the UML notation in business terms, with no useless
technical representation. These models are built in an
Enterprise Architecture that is based on business object
domains, data categories and business objects.
In the following chapter, we will present a few examples
of these models, which will enable us to describe, in more
detail, the procedures of semantic modeling.
12 . In particular, Dominique Vauquier (expert on semantic modeling and
author of the Praxeme method) and Pierre Bonnet (founder of the MDM
Alliance Group).
