7.2.4. Data cost accountant
Under the control of executive management, the data cost
accountant watches over the investment budget for the data
modeling and, by business unit, follows its progression. S/he
is also in charge of establishing the accounting principles for
the financial asset evaluation of the reference and master
data. S/he is either in the Enterprise Data Office or in that
part of the organization already in charge of cost accounting.
7.2.5. Data steward
The data steward is the player who, in their daily
activities, uses the governance functions brought by the
MDM system. They report to the data owner. During the
data approval processes, it is not unusual that the
intervention of a data owner or one of his representatives be
requested to validate updates carried out by the data
steward.
In many companies, there are already teams specialized
in the management of reference data and parameters, such
as managing tariff tables, organizational structures,
regulatory codes, etc. These teams fill a role which is similar
to the role of data steward.
7.3. Synthesis of the organization required to support
the MDM
Figure 7.3 summarizes the choice of organization for the
modeling and management of reference and master data.
