7.2. The definition of roles
Several roles are required to be able to model the data
and then govern it. Among these roles, that of data owner
has already been identified. The others are new: data
analyst, data architect, data cost accountant, and data
steward.
7.2.1. Data owner
The data owner is responsible for the data's meaning, its
validation rules, and its values. S/he represents the project
supervisor for the data. Groups of data are assigned to the
same owner, for example for the whole of a business object or
even aggregations of several business objects. The owner is
responsible for the validation of the data models which are
assigned to them. These models are supplied by the actors in
charge of the modeling (see the data analyst role). This
validation takes place, thanks to a Model-driven MDM
system, following a process of prototyping of screens.
The skills required by a data owner are those of the
business field. S/he is not a data modeler. The data owner is
also in charge of the financial evaluation of their master
data. S/he must follow their stock of reference and master
data and, in collaboration with the Enterprise Data Office,
put in place tools to allow the data to be financially
evaluated.
7.2.2. Data analyst
The data analyst is the actor who models the data. This
entails project supervision on behalf of the data owner. The
