Tours are available if you'd like to have someone tell you about
the history of the Vatican while you're seeing it. Typically there are
group tours as well as individual tours available.
TheVaticanmuseumsareclosedonSundays,exceptforthelast
Sunday of every month. Admission is free on those last Sundays,
but of course, that means it's going to be extra crowded.
There is really not a “best day” or time of day to visit the Vatic-
an, as it is constantly full of tourists. However, in the mornings all
the tour groups tend to be there as well as those thinking they will
beat the lines, so it may be only a little less slightly crowded in the
afternoon.
