Archetype: Hero
Flynn is our archetypical willing hero. He is smart enough to be afraid of the Pirate King, but he is
yearning to test his own mettle and find out more about his mother.
Father
Ben is a stout sort of fellow, as shown in Figure 9-2.

He seems like the picture of a good responsible citizen and father, but once he was just like
Flynn, dreaming of other shores and big adventures. That's why he fell in love with Mary, the
pirate, but having an unexpected baby sobered him up, and as Mary would never be a good
mother to the baby, he chose to stay and do his best for his son. He tells himself he doesn't regret
the choice, and most of the time, he doesn't.
