Khövsgöl is a culturally distinct part of Mongolia. The aimag features the unique
Tsaatan, a tribe of reindeer herders, and if you're lucky you can visit a shaman ceremony
while in the north.
Backcountry Trips
There is wonderful backcountry in Khövsgöl aimag. Hikes can last from one day to more
than a week. One of the most popular is along the west shore of Khövsgöl Nuur and
through the mountains to Renchinlkhumbe.
