In-Depth Information
The Hanseatic League was the most important trading community at that time, and all man-
ner of items were loaded and unloaded in the Old Hansa Quarter, such as timber, furs,
wheat, rye, metal ore, honey and tar.
Right at the heart of the Hanseatic League and that trading process was Bruges and the Old
Hansa Quarter. This part of Bruges is a public area and not ticketed, and so it is accessible
to the public every day throughout the week. Head to Oosterlingenplein as a first stop for
exploring this area.

Loskaai (the Spanish Unloading Quay) as this small canal is lined with picturesque old
homes and you can really begin to imagine what life must have been like centuries ago.
Nearby, Oostterlingenplein is where the 'Easrterners' set up shop.
