2.3 Cerebral Infarction
Within brain attacks, cerebral infarction is the most frequent type
of diseases. There are divergences about the causes and the disease
itself, and also there are different classiications for this kind of
diseases. In this section, we will present the comparatively used
classiications TOAST (Trial of ORG 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment)
and NINDS-CVD-3(1990) [35].
2.3.1 Cerebral Thrombosis
Atherosclerosis occurs in most cases in aorta and secondarily in
other arteries' intima. This lesion originates from the multiplication
of cells and lipid accumulation [36]. The identiied causes of
atherosclerosis are mechanical stimulation produced by high
blood pressure, hyperglycemia, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), free
