5.6.3.2 Effect of Pin Stiffness on Bone Remodeling
To study the effect of Young's modulus of the pin on the bone remodeling
process, the following values of Young's modulus of the pin are considered:
E  = 100, 150, and 200 GPa. The size of the pin is defined as δ/ a = 5%. Figure 5.21
shows the results of bone porosity as a function of time t for the three Young's
moduli given here. Figure 5.22 shows the corresponding results of variation
of the inner radius with the time t. It is evident from Figure 5.21 that, when
