Winter (Dec-Feb)
Cold but clear. December is lively with end-of-year celebra-
tions, then the city shuts down for the New Year's holiday (1-3 Jan).

Spring (Mar-May)
Gradually warmer days and glorious cherry blossoms from
late-March to early April.

Summer (Jun-Aug)
Rainy season from June to mid-July, then hot and humid.
City gets sleepy during the week-long O-bon (festival of the dead) holiday in mid-
August.

Autumn (Sep-Nov)
Warm days with the odd typhoon in September, becoming
crisp and cool from October.
