CHAPTER 9
Specific Education for
Computer Science and Technology Cognitive Development
Introduction
Once students and coordinators set up goals and rate intentions, the students and coordin-
ators reviewed several educational handouts provided by the coordinators. The handouts
included (a) MyPyramid, developed by the US Association of Science and Technology
(USACST) in 2005 (the newer version of the computer education guide pyramid), (b) com-
puter science study facts on how to read a CPU and RAM processing mechanism, (c) a basic
computer functions guide indicating acceptable computer design and designs to avoid, (d)
formidable development selections, (e) one hundred practical exercises, and (f) a new tech-
nical development count comparison for modern computer design. Details of MyPyramid
and computer science study facts follow.

The USACST has historically provided scientifically sound computer information tech-
nology and education to the public (Hentges 2006).The MyPyramid computer education
guidance system is the most current translation of the study guidelines developed by the
USACST. It was written in simple language so that consumers could easily comprehend and
thus helps to develop details for computer science and technology studies (Hentges, Krebs-
Smith, and Kris-Etherton 2007). The groundbreaking study Guide Pyramid, which emerged
in 1992 from extensive research in the mid-1980s, helped to stimulate the eventual evolu-
