Aperitivo on Via della Spiga
Who wouldn't love shopping on beautiful, pedestrianised Via della Spiga,
once the domain of bakeries and now home to Bulgari. But if the cobbles are
making those killer heels pinch, take the back door into the Hotel Baglioni for
a Campari and soda in their cafe ( 02 77 077; www.baglionihotels.com ; Via Senato 5,
Via della Spiga (back entrance); 9am-1am; San Babila) . Decked out like a 19th-cen-
tury drawing room, it's a favourite haunt with ladies who lunch.
Visit an Aristocratic Home
For a glimpse of aristocratic life during the 18th century, wander around the
Palazzo Morando Attendolo Bolognini. Housing the collections of Countess
Bolognini, the apartments are also hung with the art collection of Museo di
Milano ( 02 884 6 5933; www.museodistoriacontemporanea.it ; Via Sant'Andrea 6; admis-
sion free; 2-5.30pm Tue-Sun Sep-Jul; San Babila) , which provides a picture of the
city as it was during the Napoleonic era.
