In-Depth Information
Triennale Bookshop
Located in the sunken impluvium, opposite the grand staircase, the Triennale's
bookshop ( 02 8901 3403; Viale Emilio Alemagna 6; 10.30am-8.30pm Tue, Wed, Sat & Sun,
to 11pm Thu & Fri; Cadorna) is a feast of beautifully produced art, architecture and
design editions as enthralling as the exhibitions themselves. Laid out according to
Michele De Lucchi's design on large display tables, the room is a social hub, and
originally led into an internal courtyard that has since been lost.
Triennale Design Café
Overlooking the Parco Sempione treetops, the Design Café (see right) is a bright
white space arranged around a central serving station. In between tables and
chairs, donated by local furniture houses, are glass-topped counters displaying
temporary exhibits of jewellery and design objects. At one end the industrial kit-
chen is open to view, screened behind a glass wall. From it ushers (you guessed it)
designer food. Opt for the less complex dishes and enjoy the view, both inside and
out.
Top Tips
The Triennale is a major venue for the Salone del Mobile in April, and closes for sev-

In the garden, seek out de Chirico's Fontana dei Bagni Misteriosi (Fountain of Mys-

Check ahead during summer as the museum closes for a month to rotate the exhib-
its in the Design Museum.
