Next to the Santa Teresa Mediateca digital library, Cafe Atellani is one of Milan's
best bars. Known simply as Il Cubo (the Cube), its glasshouse design is modelled
on a tropical greenhouse and overlooks a tranquil garden. Inside the long sleek bar
is lined with an extensive selection of Italian wines, which you can enjoy with light,
contemporary plates after a browse in the cinema bookshop. (

This wine bar is located in a former Augustine refectory, and it retains a Catholic
approach to the fruit of the vine. Tastings can be had at any time of the day and
there's also a small bistro if all that swilling sees you work up a decent appetite.
The classic risotto Milanese is topped with artichoke and breadcrumbs, while
white asparagus spears are served with quail eggs. (

BAR

It may have been open since the 19th-century Franco-Austrian war, but the decor
at this popular bar belongs firmly in the 1950s. It's all about the wine here, and
maybe a plate of coppa (cured pork neck) and some bread. (
