In terms of functionality, Lumira is very similar to BO Explorer because little IT training
is needed to use it. And, unlike many of the other BI tools, Lumira is optimized for sharing
reports on mobile devices, web pages, and the BI Launchpad.
3.4.3
BusinessObjects connection
As each of the SAP BusinessObjects tools was developed by different teams, each tool has
different requirements and options for connecting to data on an SAP BW on HANA im-
plementation. The available methods for connecting to BW on HANA include universes
built on JDBC and ODBC connections, connections to information models such as analytic
and calculation views, and BEx queries. Since connections to views allow the user to fully
leverage the power of the HANA calculation engine for calculations and aggregations, con-
nection to information models should be used whenever possible. However, since the cur-
rent versions of Web Intelligence and Dashboards do not have the ability to connect direc-
tly to HANA views, you will sometimes need to create universes on top of HANA views
using the Information Design Tool.
