for most changes.
When they are present,
Background Layers
are always the bottom layer and are locked in
place. They cannot be moved or transformed in size and they cannot have any transparent
areas. They can be duplicated or converted to normal layers.
Background Layers
are automatically created, placed in the
Layers Panel
, and named by
Photoshop when an
Image File
is opened or a
New File
is created.
Canvas Size
is the total space available for a project. It is analogous to a painting canvas.
The canvas can be larger than the image but never smaller. Increasing
Canvas Size
is an
easy way to create a border around an image.
