The aloha of the Hawaiian manager ensures lots of repeat guests at these tidy condos
smack on the beach. The place is a welcome throwback to an earlier era, when
everything in Maui was small and personable. The 18 neat-as-a-pin units have tropical
decor, full kitchens and oceanfront lanai. There's a Keurig coffeemaker at the reception
desk.

chens from $218, r $196; ) Most condos in Napili wear their age gracefully, but not
the sassy Mauian, a 44-room condo/hotel hybrid kicking up her heels like a teenager.
Bamboo ceilings, frond prints, crisp whites and browns, Tempur-Pedic mattresses -
rooms are sharp, stylish and comfortable, and come with a lanai with big views. Units do
not have TVs or phones, but both are available in the common area.

open-air view of the ocean. It's the perfect calling card for this pampering resort, which
covers 10 acres at the northern end of Napili Bay. The units, which tastefully blend
Polynesian decor with Asian touches, have a lanai and, in most cases, kitchenettes.
For modern-style rooms with oceanfront views, stay in the Puna Point, Puna 2 or Lani
1 buildings. Some units have air-con, so ask when booking.

Locals aren't kidding when they tell you to get here early to beat the crowds. But a
7:10am arrival is worth it for this beloved open-air restaurant - a gazebo on the beach -
