TOP OF CHAPTER
Honokowai
POP HONOKOWAI-NAPILI 7261
Honokowai and its condos may not have the glamour and pizzazz of pricier Kaʻanapali
to the south, but it has its virtues. It's convenient, affordable and low-rise, and the ocean
views are as fine as in the upscale resorts. Another perk: in winter this is the best place in
West Maui to spot passing whales right from your room lanai.
The main road, which bypasses the condos, is Honoapiʻilani Hwy (Hwy 30). The par-
allel shoreline road is Lower Honoapiʻilani Rd, which leads into Honokowai.
Beaches
Honokowai Beach Park BEACH
( ) The real thrills here are on land, not in the water. This family-friendly park in the
center of town has cool playground facilities for kids and makes a nice spot for a picnic.
Forget swimming, though. The water is shallow and the beach is lined with a submerged
rock shelf. Water conditions improve at the south side of town, and you could continue
walking along the shore down to lovely Kahekili Beach Park at the northern end of
Kaʻanapali.
