State Parks Maui has campgrounds and cabins at Waiʻanapanapa State Park and Pol-
ipoli Spring State Recreation Area. Each park allows a maximum stay of five consecutive

County Parks Maui County permits camping at Kanaha Beach Park in Kahului (closed
Monday and Tuesday) and at Papalaua Wayside Park south of Lahaina (closed Wednes-
day and Thursday). Camping is allowed for three consecutive nights and costs $5 to $8
per day ($2 to $3 for children under 18). For reservations at either site, contact the De-

AIR
Most mainland flights to Maui involve at least one stopover, but direct flights to Maui
are offered from some cities, including San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle,
Dallas, Phoenix, Denver, Las Vegas and Vancouver BC.
Kahului International Airport (OGG; 872-3830; www.hawaii.gov/ogg ; 1 Kahului Airport Rd)
All trans-Pacific flights to Maui arrive in Kahului, the island's main airport.
Kapalua Airport (JHM; www.hawaii.gov/jhm ) Off Hwy 30, south of Kapalua, this regional
airport has flights to other Hawaiian islands on small carriers and chartered planes. Re-
gional airlines are Island Air ( www.islandair.com ) and Mokulele Airlines
( www.mokuleleairlines.com ).
Hana Airport (HNM; www.hawaii.gov/hnm ) Mokulele Airlines
(w www.mokuleleairlines.com ) offers twice daily flights from Kahului to this small air-
port, cutting a two-hour drive to a 20-minute flight.
