TOP OF CHAPTER
Mauna Lani Resort Area
The Mauna Lani Resort Area superficially resembles its neighbors, with high-end hotels,
condos and golf courses. But it deserves special attention for its significant historical
sites and for the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows' refreshingly open attitude toward
nonguests who come to explore its trails and fishponds.
Beaches
The best beaches for swimming or snorkeling are small and located around the two large
hotels.
The beach fronting the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows is protected and relat-
ively calm, but the water is shallow. Just 10 minutes south of the hotel by foot, in
Makaiwa Bay , there's a small, calm lagoon fronting the Mauna Lani Beach Club condo.
To get here, park at the hotel and walk south along the path past the fishponds.
