3D Camera
I previously introduced the concept of the camera in 3D graphics, as well as
the 3D camera tools in Photoshop and how Photoshop provides 3D tools
that allow you to control and edit your 3D content in Photoshop and the
camera that is used to view to this content. Actually, the camera is an
important part of any 3D scene, even if you do not assign a camera to view
the 3D model or 3D scene.
When you create a scene in Photoshop or any 3D application, the application
literally assigns a default camera that lets you view the scene or the model
through it. You can then assign more cameras and save them as a preset to
view the object from diferent views and angles. This capability helps you
view the object from diferent angles and switch between them without
afecting the object position. It can also help you create 3D animation using
cameras.
The way the 3D Camera tools look is deceiving, as you may think at irst
that they work similar to the 3D control tools, though they do not. You
control the 3D object with the 3D Control tools, which change the object's
properties such as position and rotation; the 3D Camera tools change the
viewer's position toward the object, as I discuss later in this chapter.
In this chapter, you'll learn more about the Camera tools, which include the
3D Rotate, 3D Roll, 3D Walk, 3D Pan and 3D Zoom tools. (Figure 10.1) and
you'll see how they can afect your view of the object.
3D Camera Rotate Tool
The 3D Camera Rotate tool rotates the camera around the object in any of
the three dimensions; the rotation of the camera can be changed by
