The Spot light provides direct light to the 3D model and more of a focus on
speciic areas in the model, as mentioned earlier. However, you will see in the
following exercise the impact of the Spot light cone on the 3D model. In the
exercise, we will use the Spot light to light a street wall with diferent-colored
Spot lights.
1. Open the ile 3dstreet.psd. This ile includes two 3D postcard layers that
represent the street at the ground and the street wall. The ground has
the Stone Granite material applied to it from the Material drop-down
list. The wall has the Stone Brick materials applied to it.
2. Open the 3D panel and go to Filter by Light.
3. Create a new Spot light source by clicking the icon on the bottom of
the 3D panel.
4. Click the 3D Light guide in the Toggle Misc 3D Extras in the bottom of
the 3D panel.
5. Drag the light cone so that the light falls on the street wall.
6. Use the Rotate Light tool or the 3D-Axis tool while the 3D Light tool is
selected to rotate the light source, as in Figure 9.5.
7. Click the Spot light in the 3D panel to display its properties.
8. Click the Color Picker and specify a red color for the light.
9. Create a new Spot light source and apply the previous steps to it, but
change its falling angle as in Figure 9.5.
