In-Depth Information
Exceltec : Exceltec is a small company specialized on additive manufacturing applications.
The company has developed Polyamide (Nylon) powders for Selective Laser Sintering
(SLS).
Höganäs : Höganäs is a Swedish world leading manufacturer of metal powders for the tra-
ditional industry. In 2012 Höganäs bought Swedish 3D printer company Fcubic which had
a patent on a binder jetting method for metal 3D printing. Höganäs has named its 3D print-
ing division Digital Metal which, starting small, initially worked like a 3D printing service
bureau and at the same time staking out a market for Höganäs metal powders. Höganäs
used to be listed on the stock market, but is now privately owned.
Legor Group : Legor is an Italian material supplier of gold and silver. Except for the main
traditional supply it also offers atomized powder alloy for 3D printing such as: gold, silver,
bronze and stainless steel.
LPW Technology : LPW is a UK company specialized in metal powders for additive man-
ufacturing. They offer metal powders for Laser Metal Deposition, Selective Laser Melting
and Electron Beam Melting. The provided metals include alloys based on: aluminum, co-
balt, nickel, steel, titanium and tungsten carbide.
MadeSolid : MadeSolid is a small Canadian company that develops materials for FDM and
stereolithography. They offer PET filament and photopolymers in different variations.
Oxford Performance Materials : The US company OPM is specialized in the high-per-
formance plastic PEEK for Selective Laser Sintering (SLS). OPM was founded in 2000
and have mainly pursued material development aimed at medical purposes, their PEEK
material is biocompatible and approved for medical use. However, in 2013 OPM started a
co-operation with arms manufacturer Northrop Grumman for use of their PEEK material
in aerospace applications.
Sandvik Osprey : Sandvik is a large Swedish company in tooling, mining & construction
and material industry. Its subsidiary Sandvik Osprey manufactures metal powders in di-
mensions 5-200 micrometers including metal powders for additive manufacturing. Sandvik
Osprey produces over 1000 different alloy variations such as stainless steel, tool steel, low
alloy steel, copper and bronze alloys, dental and medical alloys and nickel based superal-
loys.
Solvay : Belgian Solvay has been around for 150 years and is active in many different
fields. Solvay plastics launched “Sinterline” PA 6 Nylon powder for Selective Laser Sinter-
ing in 2012, and is now competing with Evonik in this field. The small startup Arevo Labs
