Continuity of operations
plan (COOP)
A plan to sustain key business functions at
acceptable service levels during an event that may
otherwise prevent the execution of these business
functions.
Contributory
To add to the whole; i.e., the occurrence of X is
necessary but not sufficient for the occurrence of Y.
Correlation
To occur at the same time with predictable
simultaneous occurrence, but without causal
connection; i.e., the occurrence of X may be a
predictor of the occurrence of Y, but is not the
cause of the occurrence of Y.
COTS (1)
Common off-the-shelf software.
COTS (2)
Common off-the-shelf solution; this topic uses this
definition for the implication that a common off-
the-shelf solution may include software, hardware,
or a service (e.g., outsourcing or managed service).
Deliverable
An obligation in the form of a document, artifact,
system, system aggregation, enterprise solution, or
other as specified.
Domain
A self-contained entity or collection of related
artifacts that may consider a self-contained entity
(e.g., PC and peripherals).
Domain component
An artifact that comprises a domain.
Domain interaction
Communication between domains; communication
occurs between domain interfaces.
Domain interface
The visible part of a domain.
Dynamic remediation
Closure of a security gap on the fly; e.g., an IDS
detects an intruder and remediates (corrects) the
vulnerability automatically.
Dynamics
A state of action, e.g., entity interactions; may result
in change.
Endogenous
Occurring within the organization.
Enterprise
An aggregation of people, process, and technology
for purposeful activity.
