IPsec
A security architecture that operates in a host to protect IP traffic. The IETF defined
IPsec in RFC 4301. IPsec uses open standards and provides secure communication between
peers to ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and authentication through network layer
encryption.
IPv4
Internet Protocol Version 4. The current version of the Internet protocol used today.
ISATAP
Intra-Site Automatic Tunnel Addressing Protocol.
Kismet
An 802.11 wireless sniffer and IDS that can collect traffic from 802.11a/b/g net-
works.
LAG
Link aggregation.

Layer 3 switches
Layer 3 switches perform the functions of both data link layer switches
and network layer routers.

Routing protocols that use the Dijkstra shortest path algorithm to cal-

Low-latency queuing. Class-based weighted fair queuing plus priority queue
(CBWFQ+PQ). LLQ provides a single priority queue, it can also configure guaranteed band-
width for different classes of traffic.
load
Metric that measures the degree to which an interface link is busy.
LSA
Link-state advertisement. Flooded throughout an area or the entire OSPF autonomous
system.

MAP
Mesh access point. Remote APs that provide access to clients and communicate with
the RAP.

Mean Opinion Score. Measure used to describe the quality of speech.
MP-BGP
Multiprotocol Border Gateway Protocol.
MP-BGP
Multiprotocol BGP. Used to carry MPLS VPN information between all PE routers
within a VPN community.
