Acadia National Park Nature Center at Sieur de Monts Spring. Nat-
ural history exhibits relating to Acadia National Park and Mount Desert
Island and hands-on activities for children.

Large collection of early photographs and artifacts of local history. Origi-
nal Life magazine photos and personal accounts of the Great Fire of 1947.

Natural History Museum , College of the Atlantic, 105 Eden Street.
Route 3. Housed on campus of award-winning college, this musuem fea-
tures prize-winning exhibits depicting animal and plant life indigenous
to Mount Desert Island and the Gulf of Maine. Special programs for chil-
dren.

Abbe Museum , Sieur de Mont Spring, Acadia National Park (Mount
Desert Street, downtown Bar Harbor). Native American artifacts from
the Frenchman and Blue Hill Bay areas. 10,000-year-old stone tolls, or-
naments, bone implements, basketry and clothing. Authentic wigwam
reproduction. Gift shop, programs.

Bar Harbor Oceanarium , Route 3. Houses the Maine Lobster Mu-
seum, a lobster hatchery, Thomas Bay marsh walk, large seal exhibit.
