Marine Resources Aquarium , located in W. Boothbay Harbor, is oper-
ated by the Maine Department of Marine Resources. A collection of re-
gional fish and invertebrates can be seen within the rocky shore setting.
Interactive displays include petting tanks for sharks and skates and
seven touch tanks for many invertebrates. The Marine Resources Aquar-
ium provides visitors with an exciting opportunity to learn about the
ocean and the richness of life that it supports. Educational programs,
presentations and tours of our research laboratory are offered daily. A
picnic lunch can be enjoyed at the waterfront site that overlooks pictur-
esque Boothbay Harbor.

Bristol
Fort William Henry is a round stone tower situated on a point at the
wide mouth of the Pemaquid River. Detailed archaeological excavations
over the years have unearthed more than a dozen foundations of 17th-
and 18th-century structures and the officers' quarters for Fort William
Henry and Fort Frederick. A museum displays hundreds of artifacts
found on the site, dating from prehistoric times through the Colonial pe-
riod. Musket balls, coins, pottery, and early hardware are among items of
interest. Good views of the surrounding countryside and ocean bays from
the top of the fort. Guided tours during summer. Call for opening hours.

Brunswick
Bowdoin College Museum of Art , Upper Park Row, Walker Art Build-
ing, Bowdoin Campus. Housed in a Charles Follin McKim-designed
building, constructed in the 1980s, the collection numbers over 12,000
objects and represents the art of ancient Assyria, Greece, Rome, Asia, Af-
rica, Europe and America.
