4. In the Tool Options bar, click the type of selection you want to use. By default, the
New Selection option is selected. After you make a selection in the photo, the Add
to Selection option automatically becomes selected.
Use Keyboard Keys for Adding or Subtracting from a Selection
To save time, if the Add to Selection option is active, you can toggle to the
Subtract from Selection option by pressing the Option (Mac)/Alt (PC) key
on your keyboard. When you release the key, the Photo Editor switches
back to the Add to Selection option.
5. Click and drag across an area in your photo. It is outlined with a Marquee that is
commonly referred to as the “marching ants.” You can also just click in an area to
select a smaller area.
6. To add to the selection, click the Add to Selection option.
7. Click and drag an area in the photo that is not included in the selection to add it to
the selection.
