Access your iTunes content through an Apple TV
With your Apple TV connected to the same network as your computer, you can play all the con-
tent in your iTunes library on your TV: Browse movies, music, and TV shows in your living room
without touching your computer.
To access your iTunes content on your Apple TV, you need to turn on Home Sharing. Once en-
abled, it stays that way until you change it, so this is a set-once-and-forget activity. Ensure that Apple
TV is connected to the same network as your computer via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, then follow these steps:
1. Go to the Settings section on your Apple TV's Home screen.
2. Select Computers.
3. Select Turn On Home Sharing.
4. Enter your Home Sharing username and password. This is normally your Apple ID, but
some people use a separate ID; either way, it needs to be the same username and password
as set up for Home Sharing in iTunes on your computer.
5. If Home Sharing is not already enabled on your computer, go to iTunes on your computer,
choose File > Home Sharing > Turn on Home Sharing. You can set up Home Sharing on
multiple computers so they are all available to the Apple TV, but only those using the same
Home Sharing username and password as the Apple TV are shown.
Once Home Sharing is enabled on the Apple TV and your computers, you'll see all available
iTunes libraries in the Computers section of the Apple TV screen, as well as in the Remote app. Make
sure iTunes is running on the computers whose iTunes libraries you want to play through the Apple
TV to your TV — otherwise, those libraries aren't available even if the computers are turned on.
