Some third-party e-mail services such as Gmail can also sync with the Notes app.
Set the default Notes account
If you are using more than one account with the Notes app — iCloud and Gmail for example —
you can set the default account for Notes app. On a Mac, choose Notes > Default Account, then
choose the account you want to be the default. On an iOS device, go to the Settings app's Notes pane
and tap the Default Account field to select the account you want to use as the default. (At iCloud.com,
you can work only with your iCloud account's notes, so there's no option to set a default account.)
Dictate Text
On compatible iOS devices, you'll see the Dictate button ( ) next to the space bar in most apps
that use the onscreen keyboard. It's a surprisingly powerful feature: You can speak to your device
rather than type. You do need to be connected to the Internet for this feature to work, so your iOS
device can tap into Apple's speech-to-text servers and provide the fairly accurate translation even for
long blocks of spoken text.
Dictation works with Siri, so you can even tell Siri to “take a note” and then speak your note for
Apple's servers to transcribe into the active text field, as Figure 7-19 shows.
