In-Depth Information
The trail begins its big descent into the canyon as it bends to
the southwest then to the north near a small creek.
0.2
Switchback down the hill for the next 0.2 mile.
0.6
The trail makes a long elbow as it heads from the northeast to
southwest.
0.9
Cross the equestrian trail to the west. You will also cross a
small creek in this area.
1.2
Pass through one of many stands of cane along the trail as it
passes through small bogs. Also keep an eye out on both sides
of the trail for sink holes and a large depression. At the bottom
of this bowl is a narrow opening to a cave.
1.8
As the trail turns to the left (west), Hurricane Creek will be seen
through the trees.
2.1
Follow the sign that reads “Foot Bridge.” Shortly you will cross
Hurricane Creek over a single log footbridge fitted with a hand-
rail.
2.3
Rock hop across a small feeder creek to Hurricane Creek.
Barbed-wire fence has been erected here to make a pathway
for foot traffic and to keep equestrians and ATVs out. After
crossing you will come to Clark Cemetery. To the left of the
cemetery is a large open area, the Walls' campsite. Continue
on the trail to the northwest.
2.5
The trail narrows as it follows the base of a large rock wall to
the left. It is very slippery here so use caution. Turkey Creek
can be seen cascading over the rocks to your right.
