hawks, Acadian flycatcher, and a long list of warblers, to name only a few.
A beautiful falls along Turkey Creek
The trail itself takes in two different views of the preserve. One is from high
atop a ridge that runs northeast to southwest through the property. The other is the
creek itself and some impressive rapids, a waterfall, and a boulder field.
The trail begins at the parking lot trailhead and ascends rather steeply and
steadily up to the ridgeline. You have the work of the Vulcan Trail Association to
thank for the nicely maintained and blazed footpath. The tread is a mix of dirt
with some rock throughout this section. The trail through here is clearly marked
with blue paint blazes or yellow diamond signs with the hiker symbol on them.
From the top of the ridge, you will have some views of the surrounding valley
through the trees (best time for that is in the winter when the foliage is little to
