none), with the best view coming from a bluff about 0.7 mile into the hike. A
short, 20- to 30-foot side trail takes you there.
After descending steeply back to Narrows Road, the trail crosses the road and
heads up a paved path called the Highland Trail to the top of a smaller ridge be-
fore returning to the road where you will be walking just above Turkey Creek,
which will be down to your left. The road is one-way and traffic will be heading
toward you, so the walk is made easier without you having to look over your
shoulder constantly. The road walk is only 0.4 mile in length but has some really
nice views of the rapids. The best view of the trip, however, comes just at the end
when you get to walk through a boulder field next to a wide scenic set of rapids
and falls.
I know it goes without saying and is true for every hike you take, but it needs to
be stressed here: Please do not disturb the wildlife or pick the wildflowers, and be
sure to pack out what you pack in. This is one special place that needs your help
to protect it.
