world. Wildflowers include spiderwort, bird's-foot violets, bellwort, and liverleaf,
to name only a few.
The trail I have chosen to include in this edition, which we're calling the Tun-
nel Falls Loop, is a short 1.8-mile loop that gives you a good sampling of what to
expect at Moss Rock. The trail begins at the Sulphur Springs trailhead. From here
it heads south on the blue-blazed, and aptly named, Blue Trail to what is called
Patriotic Junction. I was a little slow the day I visited, and it took me a second to
figure the name out. Duh. This is where the Red, White, and Blue Trails meet.
Near this location is a short side trail to a frog pond where on a peaceful evening
you will be serenaded by frog song.
The trail's namesake falls flows under a natural sandstone bridge.
From here we take the White Trail to the loop's namesake, Tunnel Falls. This is
a beautiful and unusual waterfall. The stream flows under the sandstone rocks that
