Summary
Report Manager, the one-stop user interface to interact with the reporting services
installed in the Native mode, is described in great detail by highlighting many of the
tasks it is designed to help carry out. The hands-on exercises would help a user in
finding his way around with this important tool in Microsoft SQL Server Reporting
Services 2012. Individual hands-on exercises deal with many tasks this Web client has
been designed to carry out on the Report Server such as managing folders, assigning
roles to users, viewing and printing of reports, uploading and downloading reports,
manage scheduling of reports, managing delivery of reports in several ways, creating
data sources, creating models, and many others. The readers will find it useful to create
a couple of reports that are embedded as well as shared data sources using SSDT and
deploy them to the Report Server before beginning with this chapter.
In the next chapter we will work with Report Builder 3.0, also a one-stop tool to
create reports rapidly from a variety of data sources, embellish them with interactive
features, and get them ready with cutting edge graphic support with a variety of tools
to make a visual and analytic presentation of your data. Report Builder can create
reports for both Native as well SharePoint Integrated reporting and save/deploy
them to Native Report Servers and SharePoint Document libraries.
