From the Output To drop-down menu, select Layer Mask and click OK. The image is
faded, and a mask is added to the layer in the Layers panel.
Change the Feather to 5 pixels.
The result.
Layer masks essentially cover any area that was not selected at the time the mask was
created. Your selection is now in a state that can be reactivated, turned of and turned on at
any time. Layer Masks are discussed in more detail in Lesson 8, “Getting to Know Layers.”

Press and hold the Shift key and click the Layer Mask in the Layers panel to turn of
the mask; press and hold the Shift key and click the Layer Mask again to turn it on.
Press and hold the Shift Key and click the
layer mask to turn it of and on.

Choose File > Save, and then File > Close.
