Taking Forest Road 707 north from the Spanish Fort road off SH 16 will bring you past
the Long Bayou Greentree Reservoir. FR 707 connects at its northern end with Forest Road
703, which goes east just over 1.5 miles to SH 16, about 3 miles west of Holly Bluff. From
the junction of FR 707 and FR 703, Forest Road 715 proceeds west and later turns north to
Blue Lake, a very small camping area on Howlett Bayou. Blue Lake is a good place to look
for wood ducks and for warblers in the spring. Listen for barred owls; they seem common
here, and I have seen one cross the road in the daytime. FR 715 north of Blue Lake connects
with SH 16 about 3 miles northwest of where FR 703 connects with SH 16, but during the
early part of 1992, Howlett Bayou had washed out FR 715 such that only four-wheel-drive
