In-Depth Information
Parallel Image Capture Imagery captured using two cameras not angled
toward one another.
Polarization Mismatch Appear as differences in the amount and quality of
light rel ecting as highlights or as glare from rel ective or semi-rel ective
surfaces in a scene.
Positive (far) Parallax A measure of the horizontal separation of image
pairs as they appear as 3D frames to viewers behind the screen plane.
Processes Tasks and activities, the things you and your team does within
each workl ow to deliver a show; processes can be categorized into input/
output, calibration, viewing/monitoring, correction/grading and quality
control.
Proxy Imagery data reduced in i le size and resolution to enable real-time
or near real-time processing and viewing required for post-production.
Pseudoscopic Swapping of L and R in an image pair that results in an
incorrect 3D frame.
RAW (Also known as “camera RAW”) Data captured at the highest possible
resolution for the particular imaging system.
Resources Everything that contributes to your i nal show deliverables,
including people, expertise, money and time.
Rig Two or more imagers (i.e., cameras) linked together by mechanical or
electromechanical means.
Show Master Current visual record of the show and incorporates the work
of each of the workl ows; consists of imagery and metadata (compare
to Workl ow Master).
Single-Body Camera An imaging system housing both L and R imagers in
a single unit sharing optics and electronics.
Stereography The art and science of 3D; the person in the stereography
role serves in 3D post as the “3D eyes” of your show.
Sync Error When the temporal mismatch is not a multiple of a whole frame
but a fraction of a frame (sometimes called a sub-frame sync error).
Technique A collection of related tasks and activities to fuli ll one or more
objectives.
Tests Activities that subject workl ows to various stresses to observe the
effects of the stresses on the workl ow.
Tools Hardware, software, networks, databases, documentation and related
systems used by teams to implement techniques.
