In-Depth Information
Geometry Review Report A document rel ecting current prioritized list of
geometry issues.
Good 3D 3D imagery that generates neither excessive discomfort nor
excessive discontinuity for your audience.
Grading Creatively modifying or enhancing imagery to achieve a visual
storytelling purpose.
Horizontal Image Translation The technique of “sideslipping” 3D imagery
to move the area of interest in Z-Space (also known as “covergence
adjustment”).
Image Analysis Systems Hardware and software tools that automatically
calculate the disparity and mismatches between L and R.
Image Pairs Corresponding L and R imagery; may or may not be viewable
as 3D frames.
Image Path The set of unique electronic, optical, mechanical, digital and
physical characteristics to which imagery is subjected.
Interaxial The linear distance between centerlines of L and R imagers.
Interaxial determines the overall amount of depth in a scene as well as
the apparent roundness of objects in the scene.
Issues Events in 3D frames that generate (or might potentially generate)
discomfort and/or discontinuity.
L/R Color Matching Manipulating color (including white and black levels)
in L and R (and discrete areas within L and R) with the objective of
providing the shot a color baseline.
L/R Synchronization When L and R images in an image pair represent the
same instant in time as action unfolds in front of the imaging system.
Metadata Data about imagery that describes how imagery was captured.
Muxed Shortened version of “multiplexed;” 3D i les which combine L and
R into a series of single frames or video stream.
Natively-Shot 3D Imagery captured via two or more image paths (compare
to Conversion).
Negative (near) Parallax A measure of the horizontal separation of image
pairs as they appear as 3D frames to viewers in front the screen plane.
On-Set Dailies Processes occurring to imagery immediately after image
capture to enable viewing or additional post work.
Parallax
Horizontal separation between the L and R images in image pairs.
