Part 1 is the “decision governor” of conducting an ecological restoration project. It provides the
guidance from which to proceed with design and implementation. How you define your project
and establish the project requirements will be your reference when making subsequent decisions
later in the framework process. Similarly, monitoring and evaluation are done using the founda-
tion developed in part 1. You will understand your project more thoroughly by going through the
whole process of developing it from beginning to end prior to actually implementing it on the
ground.
