One Canada Square (a.k.a. Canary Wharf Tower)
The 800-foot, 50-story building is known throughout London for its distinctive pyramid
cap. (You can't see the top from this angle—we'll get views later.) Once the tallest building
in the UK, and, for a time, in Europe, it was topped by The Shard in 2012.
Canary Wharf Tower is filled with big banks and financial and media companies. The
plaza just under it has a playful display of clocks on lampposts. If you like modern art,
enter the lobby from street level and poke around to see what's on display. Flanking sky-
scrapers are owned by HSBC (Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation) and Citigroup.
• Behind the Tube station is a grassy park. You can reach it by a path to the right of the
Tube entrance.
