To Labasa From Savusavu there are regular buses to Labasa heading north via the Waisali
Nature Reserve. You can also reach Labasa via Natewa Bay, a rough journey with Waiqele
Buses departing Savusavu at 9am and reaching Labasa around 4.30pm.
To Nabuka Vishnu Buses head east along the Hibiscus Highway to Nabuka on Buca Bay
(F$6.65).
To Natuvu Landing Those travelling to Taveuni can catch a charter bus from Savusavu at
7.15am to Natuvu Landing, where the ferry departs for its 1hr 30min journey across the So-
mosomo Straits to the west coast of Taveuni.
Destinations Labasa (6 daily; 2hr 30min); Nabuka (3 daily; 4hr); Natuvu Landing (3 daily;
4hr).
GETTING AROUND
By car or scooter The best way to explore the Hibiscus Highway and Natewa Peninsula is
by renting a car. Carpenters Rentals ( 885 0122) rent out small 4WD vehicles for around
F$140 per day. They also offer scooters, although these are suitable only for driving along
the sealed section of road which extends for the first 20km. Otherwise try Budget Rent A Car
( 885 0377).
By bus Buses depart from the Savusavu bus stand on Main Street and can drop you off at
points along the Hibiscus Highway and at the Waisali Nature Reserve, though they only run
infrequently. Buses to Lesiaceva Point leave at 7.15am, noon or 4pm (get off when you see
the signboard “Aunty Bui's Place”), returning at 7.45am, 12.30pm and 4.30pm.
By taxi It's easy to flag down taxis around town. A taxi to Lesiaceva Point costs F$8 to
Cousteau Resort , F$3 to Daku Resort .
By bike Mountain bikes can be rented from Naveria Heights Lodge for F$25 per day; they
also offer mountain bike tours for experienced cyclists (from F$65 including lunch).
