If you're into horse riding, fishing and country-
style hospitality, Mt Bundy Station is the perfect detour, 3km off the highway after
Adelaide River. The original station buildings have become spotless guest accommoda-
tion, plus there are luxury safari tents. There are 4WD tours and plenty of animals on the
property − guided horse rides cost $60 per hour, with overnight treks by arrangement.
Daly River

The Daly River is considered some of the best
barramundi fishing
country in the Territ-
ory and the hub is this small community 117km southwest of Hayes Creek, reached by a
narrow sealed road off the Dorat Rd (Old Stuart Hwy; Rte 23). Most of the population
lives in the Nauiyu Nambiyu Aboriginal community, near the Daly River Crossing. A
new bridge to replace the old causway was under construction at the time of writing.
There's a shop and fuel here and visitors are welcome without a permit, but note that this
is a dry community (no alcohol).
Other than fishing, the main attraction here is

crafts including etchings, screen printing, acrylic paintings, carvings, weaving and tex-
tiles. You can usually see artists at work in the mornings. Call in advance to check if
they're open.
