Dee Scarr is a renowned environmentalist and naturalist who started the
Touch the Sea project in 1982. Students of all ages have been instructed in
the enjoyment of underwater recreation and exploration. Before each dive,
she briefs participants on marine life so that divers recognize more life on
the reef and take advantage of the opportunity to interact. Scarr is the
author of three books, Touch the Sea , Coral's Reef , and The Gentle Sea . She
personally leads each dive ($90 for a one-tank dive) and accepts non-
certified divers up to advanced divers. If you want to meet Scarr before
signing up, attend her slide presentation at Captain Don's Habitat on
Monday evenings (see page 190). Call Dee Scarr or Habitat (
717-8290)
for time and additional information.
