SAP NW AS ABAP application layer components
The application tier consists of the components dispatcher, work process, message server,
and gateway. Let us start by looking into the function of each application layer component
and the configuration rules for each of the component.
Dispatcher
The dispatcher is a central process on an application server. The SAP dispatcher is respons-
ible for initializing and reading profile parameters, starting work processes, logging on to
the message server, and evenly distributing the transaction load across work processes.
Rule:
One dispatcher for each application server.
