SAP Application Tier
The application tier is referred to as SAP NW AS ABAP. This layer has the business rules
and interacts with the underlying database via a database interface. SAP application server
architecture is designed to provide services for tens of thousands of business users. There-
fore, detailed understanding of this layer's architecture, processes, components, monitoring,
and performance tuning is central to the administration activities of SAP Basis job.
