In-Depth Information
a transport import into the target system, as shown in Figure 11-3 . When the transport con-
trol program starts the import, it calls the kernel executable R3trans, connects to the data-
base, and performs the needed database updates. It also starts an event-triggered ABAP pro-
gram called RDDIMPDP at the SAP application level. RDDIMPDP, in turn, starts several
background jobs starting with RDD* and coordinates the statuses of these jobs by placing
entries in the TRBAT and TRJOB tables. RDD* jobs execute all the conversion and activa-
tion steps of the ABAP programs and tables in the repository. When all the steps are com-
plete, the table entries in the TRBAT and TRJOB tables are deleted until the next set of
transports is imported to target SAP systems.

If event-triggered RDDIMPDP does not start for any reason, it can be scheduled in the
target client by executing the report RDDNEWPP. While performing imports, sometimes
the transport hangs, and one of the reasons for such a situation is the background job
RDIMPDP may not be scheduled in the system. Please use OSS Note 71353 “Transports
