a knowledgeable staff, near Vörösmarty tér. Classical music on the ground floor, rock and
folk downstairs. It has a concert ticket office at the back, and is good for sheet music as well.

Wave VI, Révay köz 1 1 269 0754; map . Cool, independent shop off the bottom of
Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út, with wall-to-wall vinyl and racks of CDs; mainly indie-rock, but also
strong on underground, folk and Roma. It also sells tickets to concerts. Mon-Fri 11am-7pm,
Sat 11am-3pm.

TOYS
Fakopáncs VIII, Baross utca 46 1 337 0992, fakopancs.hu ; map . A massive array
of wooden puzzles, toys and models, and sweet little cotton finger puppets, in the wonderful
“Woodpecker” shop, near the junction of Baross utca and the Nagykörút. It has smaller out-
lets at József körút 50 and Erzsébet körút 23. Mon-Fri 10am-6pm, Sat 9am-1pm.
Játékszerekanno VI, Teréz körút 54 1 302 6234; map . Gorgeous little shop with beau-
tifully made reproductions of toys and games from the turn of the last century, including
wooden tops, kaleidoscopes, and a spectacular wind-up duck on a bicycle. Mon-Fri
10am-6pm, Sat 9am-1pm.
Játék Udvar VII, Nagydiófa utca 24 1 215 6864; map . The three small rooms of this toy-
shop are packed with models, books, puzzles, puppets, craft activities and games - mainly
secondhand, but also some new. Mon-Fri 10am-6pm.

Bamo VII, Dob utca 16 70 632 2771; map . On the edge of the Jewish quarter, a couple
of minutes' walk from the Dohány utca synagogue, this is one of the few shops in Budapest
selling kosher Hungarian and imported wines and foods. Mon-Thurs 8am-8pm, Fri
8am-6pm, Sun 10am-4pm.
Bio ABC V, Múzeum körút 19; map . Stacks of great organic products in this large store op-
posite the National Museum; natural oils, organic fruits, juices and teas, pastas, pulses and

of what's become the major distributor of Hungary's leading producers, with excellent wines
